Sister to American grill Chat 19 in downtown Larchmont, this casual yet stylish eatery in the base of the Christie Place Condominiums serves grilled meats and seafood, ample salads, a large assortment of sandwiches plus a selection of tap and bottled beer, wines, specialty martinis, and drinks. Lunch and dinner is offered every day. Brunch on Sat and Sun.

Not into ear-splitting, beer-soaked, body-squashing bar scenes? We hear ya. So does Chat. This nine-month-old establishment (yes, it’s owned by the same folks behind Chat 19) knows your’re a grown up who likes a more elegant nighttime experience. Chat offers its full menu at the bar. It is also Westchester’s exclusive carrier of Star Vodka. Try its acai cocktail or sangria martini, both served straight-up in 10-ounce martini glasses. And since we know you’re grown up, we know your designated driver won’t be enjoying those cocktails with you.

First Look: Chat American Grill in Scarsdale by Liz Johnson

My colleague Karen Croke and I went to lunch at the new Chat yesterday. It looks very similar to its sister, Chat 19 in Larchmont: a color scheme of black and red, mosaic tiles at the bar and big picture windows.

A very comfortable space, with outdoor dining on the patio, good cocktails (look for the Chat Champage Cocktail to be featured in our upcoming 12 Days of Cocktails series), flat screen TVs and the bar and comfortable ostrich upholstery on the seats. And at lunch, the place was absolutely packed — and almost all the tables were women lunching with friends.

Everyone was saying it’s really welcome in Scarsdale, where there aren’t too many upscale-casual places. Welcome to the neighborhood, then!
